In the multi-story facility of one of Turkey’s leading food companies, we established an end-to-end monitoring ecosystem to maximize personnel safety and equipment efficiency. Built on a low-energy BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) infrastructure, this system aims to protect personnel health—especially in risky areas like cold storage—and evacuate the facility within seconds during emergencies.

Operational Challenges
- Hypothermia and Health Risks: Personnel staying in cold storage rooms reaching temperatures of -18°C longer than planned without being noticed.
- Invisibility and Delayed Intervention: Delays in first aid due to the inability to know the exact location of personnel in cases of fainting, falling, or heart attacks within a multi-story building.
- Emergency Management Weakness: Inability to determine through manual methods how many people remain on which floor or in which room during natural disasters or fire drills.
- Equipment Losses: Financial losses resulting from valuable equipment getting lost between floors or being taken out of the building without authorization.
What Have We Achieved?
1. Life-Saving Cold Storage Oversight
The system automatically tracks the duration of stay for personnel in cold storage. When a determined critical time is exceeded, the system generates an instant alarm to prevent situations that risk personnel health.
2. 100% Visibility and Rapid Response
The live location of personnel can be monitored at every point of the multi-story building. When accelerometers detect a fall or when personnel press the SOS button, response teams act by seeing which floor and room the individual is in within seconds.
3. Flawless Emergency Evacuation
In events such as earthquakes or fires, the question “Is anyone left inside?” is a thing of the past. Thanks to digital counting, the number and exact locations of personnel remaining in the building are listed instantly, providing critical data to search and rescue teams.
4. Smart Equipment and Asset Tracking
Efficiency analysis is conducted using data on how long equipment remains active on which floor. Additionally, the system prevents theft or unauthorized use by providing an automatic alarm if equipment is removed from the building.

Implemented Solution
The system is based on the continuous communication between smart tags on personnel/equipment and a sensor network strategically placed across all floors and rooms of the building. This structure creates a seamless digital data layer covering every point of the physical site.
In terms of operation, smart tags perform periodic environmental scans to collect Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) data from fixed sensor points. This data, along with sensor IDs, is broadcast by the tags as a transmission packet. Our Gateway devices positioned in the field capture these broadcasts at high speed and transmit them to the central server using the facility’s existing Wi-Fi infrastructure.
At the software layer, specialized algorithms take into account the multi-story reinforced concrete structure of the food facility and the signal-reflective properties of cold storage rooms. Raw data is processed by these algorithms to filter out signal noise, determining the location of personnel or equipment with a minimized margin of error. The resulting precise location data is converted into live maps, heat maps, and operational reports on the management panel for the use of authorities.
